Dr. Christopher J. Matock, DC, owner of Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic of Walnut Creek
Dr. Christopher J. Matock, DC would like to introduce himself to the Walnut Creek community and announce the opening of Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic. Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic is a modern, highly equipped treatment facility which specializes in the treatment and management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. At Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic, treatment programs go beyond what standard Chiropractic has to offer. Most Chiropractors primarily focus on spinal adjustments/manipulation, at Precision we offer our patient's much more. Our primary focus is to encompass advanced physical medicine, sports chiropractic management and rehabilitative techniques. These programs incorporate components of passive and active care to address both the acute inflammatory/pain phase and the chronic/rehabilitation/injury prevention phase. Patient management typically incorporates a combined approach of various manual treatment procedures with an emphasis on high velocity low amplitude techniques, Graston Technique, soft tissue manipulation, advanced stretching techniques (PNF), functional rehabilitation and exercise prescription (including orthotic intervention) to improve kinematics and kinetic chain function. Other techniques used include: Kinesio taping, physiotherapeutics (such as ice, heat, and modalities), electrotherapeutics (ultrasound, Motor Nerve Stim., Interferential, etc.), gait retraining, nutrition, footwear/ergonomic training advice and sports specific strength and conditioning/rehabilitation programs. Thus, the Precision Sports Chiropractic approach is condition based and patient specific, and goes beyond the symptomatic improvement of local tissues to address additional peripheral factors that may be important in injury etiology or injury recurrence.

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I have been in business for about 3 years. However, I opened up Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic in Walnut Creek recently. In fact, we are now accepting new patients for March 2012.
What is your primary product or service?
At Precision Sports Medicine & Chiropractic we want to provide the most comprehensive, current, and quality care for our patients. Our primary focus is on the treatment, management, and rehabilitation of a vast array of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, or even a spectator, we will treat your condition aggressively, and with a focused goal of getting you back to pain free play or to your daily life activities.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in physical medicine when I saw my brother, who had just signed to play football at USC, being treated by a chiropractor in Monterey. What interested me was the hands-on approach, the incorporation of soft-tissue manipulation, and physical rehabilitation techniques which were all performed in the same office! In fact, my brother was so inhibited by pain that it was effecting his level of play. At that level, if you aren't playing at an optimal level, you just aren't playing. Nevertheless, the chiropractor was able to correctly diagnose his condition and place him on a program which primarily included soft-tissue and rehabilitative techniques. When he entered camp, he was pain free! Thats when I realized the importance of providing a hands-on, manual approach for people who suffer from injury and chronic pain.
